TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Bereaved Parents of the USA will hold its annual remembrance service and candle lighting ceremony in memory of deceased children at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The event, part of a worldwide candle lighting taking place at 7 p.m. in every time zone, will be held in the auditorium of the Medical Arts Building at the hospital, 3001 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Any bereaved parent, grandparent, sibling or friend is welcome to attend.
The service is "a special way of remembering with love our children who are no longer here with us and it is a way to help ensure that their light always will shine and to share the love our children gave us," the local chapter said in a statement.
Each family attending the service can light a candle in their child's honor and take it home to light throughout the holidays. There will be speakers, music and a slide presentation of the children "missing from our families, but not from our hearts," the statement said.
