Utility Maintenance Could Slow Drivers

Published: November 3, 2007

CARROLLWOOD - The docket for potential traffic hold-ups this week features roads specific to neighborhoods.

On Hutchinson Road, between Carey and Pennington roads, the replacement of telephone poles and wires may hinder Country Place residents. The work goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is scheduled to last until March 30.
Utility maintenance could slow drivers in Carrollwood on Orange Grove Drive, between Woodroffe Court and Stall Road. Work there continues from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 30.
Basic construction such as speed bumps has begun in parts of Original Carrollwood and Carrollwood Village. The construction is part of traffic-calming measures, which developed after a series of traffic studies and public hearings. The studies found that at least 85 percent of drivers sped up to 15 mph over posted limits on some roads.

More sophisticated traffic-calming work is scheduled to start in February 2008.

In Lutz, on Merry Lane between Lutz-Lake Fern Road and Angler's Lane, road resurfacing is scheduled to end at 5 p.m. today.

The Waters Avenue and Anderson Road intersection continues its makeover construction between rush hours until Feb. 13.
