Members of the Newcomers of Northwest Hillsborough recently made a $600 donation to the Southeastern Guide Dog School in Palmetto.
The Newcomers yearly select organizations to which they donate money. During their luncheons they host 50-50s, in which half of the money goes to charity.
The club is about women helping women and helps welcome newcomers into the community.
Pauline Lynch, the Newcomers chairwoman of community service, said this year the group is focused on the Southeastern Guide Dog School, a nonprofit organization that matches guide dogs with sight-impaired individuals.
Newcomer Rose Ann Lorenzo said the money will be used to buy two guide dog harnesses.
