It was another week of good scores around the area's bowling circles.
Highlighted were five 300s, two 299s and two 298s, with Pin Chasers Veterans and Brandon Crossroads Bowl supplying most of the action.
Bryan Higgins, 20, returned from a broken hand suffered a month ago to find perfection - his second lifetime - in the Veterans Junior Adult Doubles League. He rolled games of 243, 300 and 215 for a 758 series.
Steve Mead continued his great bowling with a 300-218-206-724 in the Veterans Hits and Misses Mixed League. It was Mead's 24th lifetime 300 and came a couple of weeks after perfect game No. 23 was posted in the Pepsi Scratch League at Pin Chasers Midtown.
Stan Meadows rang up his eighth 300 when he found perfection in the Oakfield Lanes James Rivard Pontiac League.
At BCB, Wayne Ridgley bowled 300 in the TGIF Mixed League, Don Olgesby 300 in the BCB Men's League and Tyler Selmont 298 in the Saturday Youth League.
Missing by one pin were Tampa Bowling Association Hall of Famer Vic Pettit in the Pin Chasers Veterans Keglers Men's League and Jim Kimmel Jr. in the Oakfield Lanes James Rivard Pontiac League.
And Bill Prochaska rolled 298 in the Oakfield Lanes Alvarez Plumbing League.
Other good bowling at Oakfield Lanes last week saw Elliott Reyes roll 741, Ed Tanis 267-707, Reginald Mitchell Sr. 277-703, Ken Cook 268-699, Mike Devore 694, Scott Kloo 289, Ken Brush 279, Steve Drum 278, Terry Cooper 278, Rich Bavilacqua 276, Cory Salisbury 269, Charlie Devore 268 and Doug Devore 262.
Women leaders were Kim Grund 265-723, Sandy Miller 253, Carissa Cutler 223-611, Debbie Fabian 237 and Machele Wehle 235.
AMF UNIVERSITY: Gary Gordon, with 278-772, and Melisa Pena, with 221-637, were the stars last week.
Other good scores for the men were David Positano 277-746, Casey Wood 258-741, Don Helsel 268-729, Reggie Mitchell 247-719, Stephen Best 286-693, Jose Losacco 253-693, BC Frye 255-684 and Roger Baker 267-669.
Following Pena for the women were Vicky Barnard 226-556, Casie Soderstrom 215-543, Lynn Helsel 209-527, Natalie Groves 197-524 and Shaina Schwartz 197-503.
FLORIDA LANES: Derrick Lyons' 279-780 led the men, while Ammy Sallot paced the women with 233-601 last week.
Other good scores for the men were Andrew Waligora 258-689, Mike Fuller 666, John Dison 258 and Gary Mallet 256. Other women scores were Tiffany Makowski 538, Mary Lou Candelario 529, Rosie Magana 210, Evelyn Amsler 190, Betty Kaufman 190 and Mitzi Sherman 185.
PIN POINTS: Antonio Belteton-Orr, 12, bowling for Brandon Crossroads Bowl, rolled 268-621 during Travel League action at Pin Chasers Veterans. ... Bobby Cupp's 258 and Eric Oglesby's 707 led the men in the Pinarama Lanes Base Exchange League, while Kathleen Toler had 233-595 for the women. Other good scores for the men were Rod Archield 255, Ben Artino 249-663, Alan Mai 242-645, John Szekely 647 and Dave Keranen 644. Other women's scores were Amy Mai 208, Pam Stewart 548 and Andrea Seiser 200. Ken Browning, 77 years young, bowled an all-spare game of 181. Browning has had to switch to bowling left-handed ever since a shotgun blast from a burglar ruined his right arm.
