Work Slows Traffic At Intersection

Published: October 6, 2007

CARROLLWOOD - Construction is hampering traffic flow at a major intersection leading to and from Carrollwood neighborhoods.
Anderson Road at Gunn Highway is undergoing median and turning lane work. Sandy Pettit, the county's project manager, said Anderson's southbound left turn lane is undergoing realignment, and the road's northbound left turn lane is getting extended.

'During portions of the project, the inside through-lanes may need to be closed,' Pettit said. 'When possible, the work area is secured, and the inside lanes are re-opened in the evening prior to rush-hour traffic.'

Work there is scheduled to end Oct. 31.

Two more projects also have slowed traffic on Anderson. A project at Waters Avenue includes drainage improvements, traffic signalization, utility relocation and widening. The work is expected to last until Feb. 13.

From Waters to Florida Mining Boulevard, lanes will continue to alternate from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Tuesday due to water main improvements.

In Lake Magdalene, curb and gutter work is being done on Balsawood Place until Nov. 2.

In the same neighborhood on Lake Magdalene Drive from Tara Grove Drive to Bearss Avenue, raised intersections are being built at Smitter Road, Clark Road and Cherry Creek Drive. Closures there are effective from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Nov. 1.
