LUTZ - The 28-acre campus at St. Timothy Catholic Church will turn into a giant campground of carnival rides and midway games for the church's annual family fall festival.

The four-day event runs Thursday to Oct. 21 and will raise money to help build an 11,000-square-foot youth center at the church on Lakeshore Road.

Held since 1993, the festival features a weekend of food, live and silent auctions, music, fair rides and games. Organizers have scheduled culinary and musical headliners for each night.

'It is a very, very popular festival,' said Jennifer Pidala, one of the festival organizers. 'I think it's the midway that attracts the young folks. We had a fantastic turnout for the auction last year.'

On Thursday, a classic car show will kick off the festival. The Christian rock bands Among the Thirsty and Providence will play, and the Macaroni Grill restaurant will cater dinner.

Friday night features a performance by Father Eric and the True Blues, food by Jazzy's BBQ Ribs and a live auction from 8 to 10 p.m.

Auction items include a week's stay at a Montana log home, a stay at Caesars in Atlantic City, tickets to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Lightning, autographed sports memorabilia, golf packages and gift certificates for spa treatments and dinner at local restaurants.

On Oct. 20, the band Mugshot will perform, and the live auction continues from 8 to 10 p.m. On Oct. 21, music from Gaither High School's band program will close out the festival.

Organizers also will host a free fair night to underprivileged children in the church's Share the Spirit program, which will benefit children of deployed military families this year.
Fitness buffs may participate in the Heavenly Fun Run, a one-mile run and walk Oct. 20. Registration starts at 7 a.m. Oct. 20, and the run starts at 8 a.m.

Cost for the run is $40 for a family, $15 for adults before race day, $20 for adults on race day, and $5 for children under 12.

The festival is free, but fairgoers may buy advanced dinner and ride tickets at the church's Web site, www.sainttims.org, through Thursday.

A one-day armband for the rides costs $20 in advance and $25 during the festival. A four-day armband sells for $50 in advance. Individual ride tickets are $15 for 20 tickets in advance and $20 for 20 tickets during the festival.
