Meet Tax Appraiser

Published: September 8, 2007

FOREST HILLS - With property taxes coming due, residents are bound to have a lot of questions and concerns over their bills.

On Tuesday, they will get a chance to ask questions and meet Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Rob Turner at the next meeting of the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association.

'We have always tried to present in our programs topics that we thought were pertinent and important to our neighbors,' said FHNA President Gail Matson. 'The tax issue is such a current topic that's on everyone's mind with all of us just receiving TRIM notices.'

The meeting will be the last one at the Forest Hills Recreation Center, Matson said. Because of the growth of their association, the group is looking for a larger facility to accommodate members, she said.

Future meetings will be at the Forest Hills Christian Church, 10902 N. Armenia Ave.

In addition to Turner's appearance, the association will hold elections for new officers and directors at the meeting. The association will elect vice president, secretary and quadrant directors.

With the upcoming resignation of Matson, members will elect an interim president for a one-year term.
Matson said she hopes some 'fresh blood' will step forward and take leadership positions in the community.

'The neighborhood will always be dear to me, and I will always be involved somehow,' she said. 'I'm stepping back and hope that I've generated enough interest that some of the younger people will appreciate, care and value it.'
Prospective candidates should contact Mary Mooney at (813) 932-1088.
