CARROLLWOOD - Musicians longing to break out those band instruments collecting dust or sing their favorite songs have a new outlet.
The Carrollwood Cultural Center is organizing an adult band and chorus.
"A lot of people loved to perform in band and chorus in high school but don't have an outlet as adults," said band director Helen Michaelson. "This is a way to have fun and get back into it."
Michaelson said performers don't have to be master musicians.
"If you played in high school but haven't played in years, you are still welcome," she said.
Mary Ann Scialdo will be directing the chorus. The two groups will meet weekly starting Sept. 15 and will perform a joint concert at the end of the year.
There is no charge to join the groups, but performers are encouraged to become members of the center. Practices will be held at the center from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays.
