LUTZ - McKitrick Elementary held its annual field days with a baseball twist.
Physical education teachers Luanne Lockwood and Sabrina Lucas design and implement the schoolwide event each year. This time they decided to make it a tribute to the Tampa Bay Rays, with baseball-themed activity stations.
Even cowbells were OK at the school on Dec. 15 and 16, with children given permission to wear Rays gear and ring their bells.
Each grade took turns trying out "Poppin' at the Trop," with a parachute and balls. They could also participate in relays, such as a baseball equipment pick-up relay and a "dizzy bat relay" called "Carl Crawford's Crazy Bat."
Lockwood said she and Lucas selected the Rays theme for the team's hard work, accomplishments and dedication to teammates.
