Deputy's Drive Brings Comfort, Joy

Published: December 31, 2008

CITRUS PARK - Deputy Michelle Branscomb has organized the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's District III toy drive for 13 years. And on Dec. 20 she was able to give toys to 310 children, many delivered by her personally to their homes.
Branscomb raises the money to buy the toys through donations. Then she and other volunteers shop for toys to fill the children's Christmas lists. Toys donated at collection boxes in the community are also distributed.

The toys go to children in families victimized by crime, with economic challenges or with medical emergencies.

For the past three years Hillsborough County Judge Nick Nazaretian has helped Branscomb by volunteering to be Santa to the kids.

This year's toy giveaway was at the District III office, 7202 Gunn Highway.
