CARROLLWOOD Hillsborough County commissioners are scheduled to consider an agreement Thursday to allow the Friends of the Carrollwood Cultural Center to manage the day-to-day operations of the new building.
The five-year agreement would require the county to pay the Friends group $380,000 a year for the first three years. After the third year, the management fee would be reduced based on the net revenues generated by the cultural center.
Construction of the $8 million cultural center at 13335 Casey Road is nearly complete. The center will offer community classes in art, music, pottery and theater.
The Friends group will operate and promote the cultural center and hire the artists and staff while the county will pay for utilities, maintenance and repairs to the buildings, grounds and fixtures.
The non-profit group also will supplement the operational budget by selling the naming rights to the rooms, auditorium, seats and pavers.
