Messiah Lutheran Church's Migrant Ministries celebrated its 20th Christmas Outreach by providing 367 families of the fields the makings for a blessed Christmas.
The church, 14920 Hutchison Road in Carrollwood, hosted the annual event on Dec. 15 at the Planteen Recreation Center in Plant City. More than 50 volunteers helped distribute the 1,250 wrapped toys for Christmas morning.
Santa and Mrs. Claus visited to welcome each child with candy canes and an unwrapped plush animal. Each child had the opportunity to select two or three books and also received a sharing bag that included a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and washcloths.
The family also selected a new blanket and received a large box of ethnic food and a frozen turkey.
