LUTZ - A new McDonald's restaurant going up on North Dale Mabry Highway, near Van Dyke Road, will offer fancy coffees, Wi-Fi, cushy furniture and new jobs.
The 3,900-square-foot restaurant, expected to open at the end of August, will feature McDonald's latest architectural design.
It will have a stucco exterior with a modern roofline and interior features, including upholstered booths, padded chairs, couches, soft lighting, a plasma television and Wi-Fi, said Bob Conigliaro, vice president of community relations for Caspers Co., which has 50 McDonald's locations in the Tampa Bay area.
The new store will serve a variety of specialty coffee drinks, including vanilla lattes, cafe mochas, caramel cappuccinos and, eventually, smoothies.
The fast-food eatery is expected to hire 50 to 60 people - but may hire more, depending on sales volume, Conigliaro said.
Employment interviews will begin in mid-July at the Northdale McDonald's, 15698 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
Caspers operates six McDonald's dotting Dale Mabry Highway, from South Tampa to Northdale. One of those was the first McDonald's in Tampa, which opened 50 years ago, at 3515 S. Dale Mabry Highway.
Despite having several locations on the highway, McDonald's market research shows there is enough demand to support the new one near Van Dyke Road, Conigliaro said.
The new restaurant is expected to primarily serve patrons from Lutz, Land O' Lakes, Cheval, Calusa Trace and nearby communities.
