CARROLLWOOD Millennium Garden in Carrollwood Village will be transformed into a large playground Saturday with carnival games, arts and crafts, and dogs looking for a permanent home.
Among the big attractions at the fifth annual Kid's Day at the Village are an 18-foot inflatable slide and a 29-foot inflatable obstacle course where children and teenagers can race each other.
Last year's star attraction, a fire eater, is returning, along with a balloon artist, face painting, magicians, and storytellers.
The kid-focused festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Millennium Garden, 4535 W. Village Drive. It is free and open to the public.
The child-friendly event attracts about 1,500 people, the majority of which are children. Parking is free. The fefstival is hosted by the homeowners associations in Carrollwood Village.
A junior drum line group featuring up to 30 kids will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m.
But "the big, big draw on site for the kids will be the inflatables," said Event Manager Maria Hochwarth-Alvarez.
Story tellers from the Jimmie B. Keel Library will read stories.
Dancers from Mary Jo's Performing Arts Academy will perform at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by a karate demonstration at 1:30 p.m.
In between the scheduled shows, children can hone their golf skills on the putting greens or participate in a mock fishing tournament in a toy pond.
Vendors will be selling musical instruments and children's books, while local child-centered attractions like MOSI, Busch Gardens and the YMCA will have booths.
