CARROLLWOOD - Business owners and consumers connected last week at the Carrollwood Area Business Association's Fall Business Expo.
About 75 businesses participated in the event. Outback Steakhouse dished out free pork and potatoes, Great Clips gave $5 haircuts for charity and Bay Gulf Credit Union gave people a chance to grab some free cash in their money booth.
Pat Ferguson drove from Dade City to get a flu shot at the expo given from Health Point Medical Group. Diane Williams, practice manager for Health Point, said the expo is good exposure for the group.
"We recently opened up in the area and events like this help us connect with community," she said. "We're here to let people know about our services and how we can help them."
Stephen Burdi, managing partner of the Carrollwood Outback Steakhouse, dished out free samples while promoting a new pocketbook-friendly menu.
"We have a lot more items under $15," he said.
Dozens of people signed up for haircuts.
"This year we decided to charge $5 for the haircuts and give all the proceeds to the Children's Miracle Network," said Lea Orchard, owner of the Great Clips at the Palms of Carrollwood.
Some business owners were touting multiple products. John Erb, promoted his auto truck and RV service center, as well as the Earth Box, a self-watering plant container that he promotes at his shop.
