CARROLLWOOD - Community leaders will meet with residents again to continue to develop a community plan.
Hillsborough County leaders have been meeting with residents and business leaders for months in the Carrollwood area to develop a vision plan for the area. At Thursday's meeting they will review and refine goals and strategies they have developed.
The group created a seven-page draft document listing goals they would like to see for the area. The strategies cover issues such as traffic, architecture, recreation and government services.
Some of the suggestions include:
• Strengthen relationship with law enforcement.
• Maintain access to community lakes.
• Discourage future development of strip commercial.
• Enhance the roadway network along Dale Mabry Highway and Handy Boulevard to deter car accidents.
The meeting starts at 6:15 p.m. at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 3515 McFarland Road, Tampa. For information, go to www.hccommunity planning.com.
Hillsborough County started working on community plans about 10 years ago to get residents more involved in the planning process. They've already written plans for several other areas, including Lutz, Westchase and Citrus Park.
