Gaither High baseball player Drew Doty made the most of his trip out West earlier this month.
Doty, a senior outfielder, recently was named to the 2009 All-Area Code Team.
Doty, playing for the Oakland Athletics, went 4-for-5 with five walks, four runs, three RBIs and a stolen base during the event, according to his father, Rick.
About 200 players from around the nation are selected each year to participate in the Area Code Games, which were held Aug. 5-10 at Blair Field in Long Beach, Calif. This was the 23rd year of the prestigious high school showcase event.
ESPNRISE also had a write-up on Doty while he was at the Area Code Games.
