CARROLLWOOD - Whether checking out new artists or favorite old musicians, the Carrollwood Cultural Center has a range of upcoming events featuring music, theater and the visual arts.

The center continues its Jazz with Jim Series hosted by Jim Burge, offering music lovers some jazz selections. The event is 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and the cost is $7.

For the younger set, the center is offering a production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" at 3 p.m. Feb. 8. The play is being put on by the Play'n Around Traveling Children's Theatre. Tickets cost $10 for adults and a first child, $5 for other children 13 and younger, and free for children younger than 2.

Those looking to support the local arts scene can check out an artist reception 7 p.m. Feb. 13. This event will provide an opportunity to meet the members of the Westchase Artists Society whose works include painting, pottery and photography.

The society is a group of visual artists interested in furthering the art community in the Westchase area. Their goal is to nurture both the artist and art lover by hosting art exhibits, providing art education and activities and creating an opportunity for area artists to come together and share.

Their artwork will be on display for the entire month of February at the Carrollwood Cultural Center and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of any artwork will go toward the center to help with its mission to promote creativity in the community.

Music lovers who miss the crooning of legendary singers Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Dean Martin can experience their music all over again. The center is hosting the Sweet Dreams, Frank, Bobby and Dean 2008-09 Tour.

The Salerno Theatre Co., "Tampa Bay's Musical Theatre Company," in association with American Concert Company, will perform music the singers made famous. Shows are 8 p.m. Feb. 20 and 3 and 8 p.m. Feb. 21. Tickets are $18 for members, $25 for nonmembers. Group tickets are $20 for 10 and $18 for 20.

Children can tap their toes to a dance and sing-a-long conducted by Thomas Moore, a nationally recognized early childhood consultant and children's recording artist.

The event, at 10 a.m. Feb. 28, is recommended for ages 3 to 6, and children will learn dances to "Humpty Dumpty" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider." Tickets cost $7 for children; adults get in free.
