Scooter Driver Dies After Colliding With Tow Truck

TAMPA - A 66-year-old man driving a scooter on West Waters Avenue died this afternoon after colliding with a tow truck, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The man, who is not being identified until next of kin can be notified, was driving westbound on Waters near Twelve Oaks Boulevard when he changed lanes and collided with the tow truck, according to a media release.
The scooter driver was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he died a short time later, according to the release. He was not wearing a helmet.
The investigation continues.
