CARROLLWOOD VILLAGE - Some military men and women recently got to rub shoulders with a few sports celebrities while playing a round of golf.
Not too long ago Scott Robinson, the owner of Coast to Coast Custom Wheels & Accessories and a member of Emerald Greens Golf Resort & Country Club, came up with the idea of hosting a day of golf for military personnel. So he approached the club about month ago to help with the cause.
And the result was about 63 military veterans taking part in Golfing for Freedom on July 21.
"We definitely appreciate them giving us a day to play golf and have some fun," said the Army's Mark Miller.
Along with the veterans, sports celebrities such as Derrick Brooks, Jimmie Giles, Scott Brantley and Martin and Bill Gramatica were invited to participate.
"I am completely pleased," Robinson said about the outing.
The event consisted of an 18-hole scramble. Teams of four were made up of two military veterans, a sports celebrity and a country club member.
