500 Come Together To Bless Israel

TAMPA - About 500 people recently attended an afternoon and evening of education and culture to bless and benefit Israel.

The Tampa Bay Committee to Bless Israel hosted the third annual Benefit to Support Israel Feb. 22 at the India Cultural Center, 5511 Lynn Road. The event featured a series of speakers and performers to raise money and awareness about the state of Israel.

"This is an opportunity for the community to come together to bless a country and people who need to be blessed because whole world is against them," said Rabbi Steven Weiler.

Proceeds from this benefit will go toward the Israeli Leadership Institute in Sderot, the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, the Bet Elazraki Children's Home in Netanya and the purchase of a cardiac intensive care ambulance for Ashkelon.

Those in attendance could listen to featured guest speakers and enjoy Israeli dancing, music and food.

"It's was an incredible and enjoyable evening," Weiler said. "We had musicians and speakers that were top-notch."
