TOWN 'N COUNTRY - Adam Carr didn't think he would win the Camp Hyatt "On Assignment" kid reporter contest.
Adam, 11, entered the contest during the summer by submitting a home video explaining why he wanted to go to the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa in Avon, Colo.
"I was very excited," said Adam, who is home-schooled, about winning the contest. "I didn't think I would win."
Adam, who makes videos as a hobby, said he found out about the contest while surfing the Web.
During his two-minute video he names the things he can do in Beaver Creek that he can't do in Florida. Some of the activities he mentioned include making a snow man and joining a polar bear club, which is for people who take a dip in chilly water.
"Camp Hyatt gives kids like me a chance to do things they don't do at home," Adam said in his video.
As the contest winner, he will get to travel with his family to Beaver Creek in February for six days. While there he will also write a journal about his experience that will be posted at www.camphyatt.com.
"He worked hard on the video and came up with some really good ideas of comparing Florida and Colorado," his mother, Kelly, said. "We are proud and excited."
