It has been a long time since I received a speeding ticket.
Knock on wood that I didn't just jinx myself.
The last speeding ticket I got was on my 22nd birthday. And like I said, I don't have the greatest luck. I will, however, admit I deserved it.
I thought about this after listening to a friend of a friend talking about how she got out of getting a ticket. I am not exactly sure how this works, but I have never been able to escape one of those slips.
And I don't want to hear "How is that possible? You're a girl." Call me naïve, but I don't think just because I am a female I will automatically get off the hook. In fact, I have heard of men who have been blessed with the no-ticket luck.
It has been my assumption that once stopped, you're guaranteed a ticket. But I hear conflicting stories all the time.
Is there truth to this madness?
I find it hard to believe that there is some sort of technique to getting out of traffic citations. I know most people at some point in life have received a ticket for something.
I am curious to know how your experience was. Was there validity to the violation or do you think it was bogus? Were you able to get out of the ticket? If so, how did you do it?
Here's some road work to watch for:
West Jorome Drive from North Armenia Avenue to the dead end is being resurfaced through Nov. 20.
