Former Nature Coast boys basketball head coach Travis Priddy has been hired as the new head coach at Freedom, athletic director Elijah Thomas announced. Priddy replaces Randy Grenon, who was asked stepped down after this past season. The Patriots finished the 2008-09 season with a 5-19 overall record. "He has leadership and passion for the game," Thomas said. "He wanted to teach kids." ...more

Henson Heads Awards Recipients On the same day he scored 14 points in the McDonald's All-American game, John Henson of Sickles was named the Paul Straub Player of the Year at the annual Tampa Bay Basketball Coaches Association banquet. King coach Sam Lanier, who guided the Lions to their first state tournament appearance, was given the Doug Walker Coach of The Year award and King was named Team of the Year. ...more
