SOUTH TAMPA Olivia Fiss, a fourth-grader at Gorrie Elementary, wishes to thank her Hyde Park neighbors and Tampa General Hospital staff members and volunteers for supporting her in the annual gift wrap and candy fundraiser for her school. Olivia was the top seller this fall at Gorrie, and for 28 schools in the district, selling more than $2,300 worth of merchandise. Gorrie received 50 percent of the sales, and Olivia won an iPod Touch for her efforts. ...more

When Tampa Police Maj. Sophia Teague saw Cub Scout Pack 1952 at an event last year, she was embarrassed for them. The Sulphur Springs children didn't have proper scout uniforms. Thanks to Teague, officers and others in the community raised $805 for uniforms. ...more
