Maria Louisa Davis got to the United States seven years ago, but today she became a permanent fixture. She was one of 520 flag-waving, "Star Spangled Banner"-singing people sworn in as citizens today at the Tampa Convention Center. The 52-year-old Orlando woman said she wants to vote in the election this fall and that was an overriding reason for her going through the lengthy process. Today is the deadline for registering to vote for the primary election in August, and it also marks 100 days until the presidential election in November. ...more
