HERITAGE ISLES - The beleaguered golf course community has asked its management team from Saddlebrook Resort to give up control of Heritage Isles' money-losing restaurant. A year after Dempsey Resort Management Inc. reworked the menu and improved the food, the restaurant is losing more money than ever. DRMI closed the restaurant this month and is serving food and drinks from an outdoor tiki bar next to the community's pool through the summer. ...more

SEBRING –– The 2008 Sertoma Junior Golf Tour will kick off with its annual adult/child tournament at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Entry fee is $75 per team, which includes 18 holes of golf, range balls, trophies and dinner. The tournament is being held at Sun 'N Lake Country Club and registration is at noon. The Sertoma Junior Tour, which is for youngsters ages 6-18, is in its 14th year and Sun 'N Lake Country Club assistant professional Andy Kesling is beginning his second year as Sertoma Tour director. SEBRING — Sebring Golf Course will now offer nine-hole play to appease disabled veterans and senior citizens who say that's all they can play. Robert Burdick, a disabled veteran, spearheaded the effort; he played regularly at Sebring Golf Course, previously known as the Sebring Municipal Golf Course, and was recently told he could no longer pay a nine-hole rate. ...more
