TAMPA Hillsborough County firefighters were busy this morning, first responding to what had been reported as a hot-air-balloon collision in Lutz that turned out to be nothing and then to alarms in northwest and north Hillsborough County on unrelated calls. Firefighters did find smoke coming out of a duplex at 5910 Mar Jo Drive in North Tampa this morning. They determined that the smoke was coming from a burning pot on the stove. The resident, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. ...more

Nichole Addessi and her boyfriend, Jesse Blankenbiller of Riverview, were at the Westfield Brandon mall by 5 a.m. today with their eyes on two items. "I know it's selfish, but we're shopping for ourselves," Addessi said as the couple stood in a long checkout line at Sears.
