Boy Scout Troop 22 spent an enjoyable weekend at Egmont Key State Park in early December. The Scouts explored the fort ruins, took an orientation class and performed a community service project that involved helping park rangers remove non-indigenous species of plants. I read in the paper about the ethanol plant or possible plants coming to Highlands County. This can be a most wonderful opportunity for the county, state, American citizens, real estate sales, businesses large and small alike. Since our tax dollars are in part funding this program, there should be in no way anyone working either on the building project or in the plant itself not be a United States citizen. Our commissioners, state representative, Congress, Senate and governor should see that our people are ready to take these jobs. ...more
