The Keystone Civic Association's Adopt-A-Road crew hit the street April 18 for the Great American Cleanup, Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful, and to celebrate Earth Day. About 19 volunteers scoured the group's adopted section of Gunn Highway - from Van Dyke Road to Tarpon Springs Road; Gunn Highway south to Miles Road; and Tarpon Springs Road from Gunn Highway to Blake Road; and a half-mile of Wayne Road west from Gunn Highway - a total of three miles. ...more

For almost two days now, the family of a 56-year-old woman killed after being rear-ended on Dale Mabry Highway late Wednesday has been unaware of her death, troopers said. State law prohibits investigators from publicly identifying a person who has died until his or her family has been notified. Extraordinary circumstances, such as family living out of the country, have caused authorities to release victims' names in the media without notification but only after exhaustive efforts, law enforcement officials say. ...more
